"Shame wilts with a witness." Beautiful. Loved these reflections, Emily.

I had hoped (and planned!) for rest this summer, and for a variety of reasons, that didn't happen. Some key plans didn't pan out. We had some unhappy/unwelcome surprises as well. Summer 2024 can be ALLLLLLLL the way over, thank you very much.

But now, after several disappointments, I find it harder to believe that even simple things I'm hoping or planning are possible. I don't want to be hope-shy, but this is where I find myself at times.

Thanks for the reminder that seasons change and we can name our desires. We can be the boss of that process, even when we don't get to boss the outcomes.

Cheryl, I often make note of things EPF has written in an ongoing list called "Quotes." I'm adding this one from you: "We can be the boss of [the] process even when we don't get to boss the outcomes." Love it!

This was such a helpful letter! I have just landed in the US on vacation (from the UK) and am going to make a little list of things I want to do/be while I’m here for 2 weeks) before I make one for autumn 🍂

Last time I looked it was the beginning of June. This list will help reorient me in this misty liminal space I find myself in right about now.

I loved this!

One thing that struck me was “I’m not a systems person, until I am.

This resonates in so many ways. Lists do this to us. It’s like we don’t know we need them, until we make them and start checking things off the list. It’s a weight we didn’t know we were carrying.

You always have such a beautiful way of putting our feelings into words. And from someone who feels like she’s too sensitive, it’s so nice to have someone in your corner.

Thanks Emily❤️

I also like taking pictures of my feet (usually in shoes). I wonder if I find the practice grounding? Or if I just spend a lot of time looking down (that's not it). I think it may be that I wear the same two or three pairs of shoes day in and day out, so they become comfortable in more than a physical way. Or maybe... I don't know. Could be a mystery.

Also, I read the first page of the introduction in your first photo and *what book is it*?? It seems wonderful.

Kind regards

P.S. Thank you so much for who you are and what you bring to the table Emily. I'm here for all of it.

Taking pictures of our feet is easy. We don't worry about is our hair in place, is my makeup smudged. Point click done. Easy peasy and we can all relate to that kind of pic.
