Being among like-minded friends, on a new journey that is also a new adventure, this is what kindles excitement in my heart. We will undoubtedly learn much together. I look forward to it. Thank you for leading the way.
I love the idea you shared of embracing “reflection and practice.” I’m learning how much I need to lean into both - the inward reflection and external action - to show up as my true self. Grateful to enter these conversations with all of you!
Yes - that inward reflection and outward practice is always something I'm learning. I'm also learning that just because the reflection is inward doesn't mean it's passive.
Your work has spoken so much life, clarity, and wisdom in my life through the years. And as I find myself treading water, too, lately, I'm so excited to connect with you in this new space and join you on this journey of becoming a soul minimalist to create space for the things that matter most. Thank you for all your work! So glad to see you on Substack and glad to support your ongoing ministry.
So many women who I’m connected with have heeded my advice to read your books and listen to your podcast. They agree like I do, God has called you to this place at this time and season.
The “work is all about who we are becoming.” Love this! Becoming has been a word-on-repeat in my soul since February when my spiritual director brought it up. I’m learning that continuing to become requires paying a lot of attention to my life--inward and outward. Looking so forward to this community as we move together toward our truest selves.
I love this: “conversations about the things that keep us stuck in our faith, work, and life.” That is where I live and have been living for too long. I have no idea what to do, though I know I need to do something to move forward! Substack is totally new to me. Thanks for the gentle push to join and explore!
"For my own life, I know I can’t live a scattered, restless, distracted life and then expect to be able to make a clear, honest, aligned decision at the moment of choice. I want to cultivate clarity, honesty, and alignment in my regular days so that when the crucial moment of choice arrives, I show up ready. Ish." Isn't that the realest. I remember Propaganda saying something years ago that's always stuck with me - "If you always stay ready, you don't have to get ready." I also think of John Mark Comer's Ruthless Elimination of Hurry and how he talks about regularly practicing a Sabbath will ultimately "leak" into the rest of your week (lol that verb makes me uncomfortable). And it's sometimes that big-ness, that whole-heartedness that feels like a whole DEAL but so worthwhile to dive in and live a life aligned with what you long for.
ALL THAT TO SAY, so glad you're showing up here. You're my first actual paid subscription so know that I (and so many of us, obviously!!) believe in what you are doing and putting into the world! Thank you for sharing with and showing us!
Your subtitle, the shaking, is inspiring me to walk (read 'write') even if I'm shaking in my own tekkies. Thanks Emily. Both my roommate and I and my childhood best friend each have a copy of your book, The Next Right Thing. Looking forward to seeing how your next right thing expands here in the 'stack. :D Thank you thank you thank you!
Excited to engage in this space. I love reflection so much yet stepping out into the internet with my words has always felt like going for a jog in ice skates - awkward, slippery, and full of tumbles. I hope to practice using my voice here and see how that fits. Grateful to be here!

"on a new journey . . . " I like that a lot. It feels that way!
This is my favorite comment on this post. I resonate deeply with the sentiment. 💜
Super excited to be here! Thanks for inviting us!

I'm so glad you're here. I agree that Substack feels less internetty than other spaces. I'm looking forward to connecting here.
I'm so glad you're here, Katie Kibbe.

Might you be a fellow reader from South Africa?! The „tekkies“ give you away 😉🇿🇦💕
Indeed! Good observation! :D
Super excited 💓
I’m so thrilled to be a part of this group! Thanks Emily!
