I've walked out of a lot of rooms over the last four years. I've also walked in to some new ones. And to be honest with you, there are several areas of life right now where I'm standing in a hallway, no open doors in sight.
Perhaps you can relate.
And so as you (probably already) know, I wrote a book for us.
Whether an ideological room (a political party, faith community, or personal belief system) or a physical room (a workroom, a classroom, or a home), How to Walk into a Room is a book to help you discern the how, when, and what now of leaving rooms and finding new ones.
For anyone standing at a threshold, this book offers a framework for knowing when it’s good to stay and when it’s time to move on.
During the book-writing process I have had exactly two (but sometimes more) songs in my head:
One Last Time from Hamilton
One last time
The people will hear from me
One last timeAnd if we get this right
We’re gonna teach ‘em how to say
Goodbye
And of course, the second song:
Should I Stay or Should I Go? by The Clash
Should I stay, or should I go now?
Should I stay, or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay, it will be double
So come on and let me knowShould I stay, or should I go?
If I could use these two songs as a jumping off point, then I’ll say the book itself will help you to answer the question if it’s time to stay or go, a la The Clash.
But the preorder bonuses I’ve created will at least begin to teach us how to say goodbye (and also hello!) Because it’s true the book doesn’t hit bookstore shelves until March 12, but there are plenty of endings and beginnings you’ve already lived through, hellos that arrived without a toast and goodbyes that never found their closure.
And so for everyone who has or will preorder How to Walk into a Room, we want to send you these free gifts!

I knew almost from the very beginning that I wanted to create this Collection, mainly because I needed it myself. I needed the courage to name some things about endings that I had not previously taken the time to name. And I needed permission to mark some beginnings that had not received the attention I now realize they deserved.
The Blessings Collection will (I hope) offer you that same courage and permission. And the Blessings Workbook will guide you through processing some specific hellos and goodbyes. I think you’re gonna love it.

Thinking about retiring, but I’ve been a nurse all of my life. I am good at it, I have mostly enjoyed the work. But husband is retired and wants me at home. I am just not sure when is the right time. Likely it will be next year. I have super charged feels about all of it. I have been at this hospital for 40 years. I birthed my children here, I had cancer here, so many friends. I have a wonderful boss. It’s a lot. I am sorely hoping for clarity with your book. What will I do all day? Thankfully $$ will not be the problem. It is surely puzzling to me, all of it.
That light! Those windows! 😍 That photo of your writing space was all I needed today.
